Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic with bacteriostatic activity against a large number of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. Activity against Pseudomonas-, Proteus- and Klebsiella spp is low. The bacteriostatic effect is based on the inhibition of the synthesis of bacterial proteins.
For the treatment and prevention of different types of bacterial diseases of cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, deer, and poultry.
Cattle, Buffaloes, Sheep, Goat & Deer: For the treatment of actinobacillosis, bacterial enteritis, bacterial pneumonia, bovine respiratory disease complex, diphtheria, keratoconjunctivitis (pink
eye), leptospirosis, metritis, anaplasmosis, foot rot, black leg, navel ill, joint illness, heartwater, dermatophilosis, enzootic abortion (bedsoniasis), wound infections, mycoplasmosis, Aid in the
control or prevention of shipping fever, pneumonia, and post-operative and postparturient infections.
Poultry: For the prevention and treatment of conditions/diseases susceptible to Oxytetracycline including fowl cholera, fowl typhoid, complicated CRD etc.
Hypersensitivity to tetracycline or serious liver or kidney insufficiencies.
Cattle, Buffaloes, Sheep, Goat & Deer: Single dose treatment of 1 ml per 10 kg body weight. (or, 20 mg per kg body weight) by IM route.
Poultry: Single dose treatment of 0.25 ml per kg body weight (or, 50 mg per kg body weight) by subcutaneous route.
Severe infections may require re-treatment at 3 to 5 days following the initial injection.
Or, as advised by the veterinary physician.
Hypersensitivity reactions, local tissue reactions after intramuscular injection in horses or foals.
To minimize local irritation at the site of injection in cattle, it is recommended that not more than 10 ml should be injected at any one site.
Meat: 28 days, Milk: 4 days
Store at a temperature below 30 ⁰C, protected from light & keep in a dry and cool place. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
