Ciprofloxacin is a member of Fluoroquinolone and shows bactericidal activity and a powerful bactericidal effect by inhibiting DNA-gyrase which is responsible for the supercoiling of DNA. It is a time-tested broad-spectrum antibiotic.
For the treatment of digestive & respiratory infections caused by Actinobacillus, Pasteurella, Streptococcus, and Bordetella and for diarrhea caused by E.coli, Salmonella is susceptible to Ciprofloxacin. It is also used in Enterotoxaemia, skin, bone & ear infections, Anthrax, uterine infections, udder infections, and urinary tract infection.
Proxacin Bolus should not be used with Chloramphenicol, macrolide, or tetracycline.
Livestock: 1 bolus/ 75-150 kg body weight or 6.7-13.4 mg/ kg body weight twice daily for 3-5 days.
Fish: 1 bolus/ 20-40 kg feed for 10 days.
Poultry: 1 bolus/ 15-20 liters water for 3-5 days.
Or as prescribed by the registered Veterinary Physician.
Ciprofloxacin administered together with theophylline can lead to elevated blood levels of theophylline. It may also interfere caffeine metabolism.
Ciprofloxacin is time tested and clinically well-tolerated antibiotic. However, common reactions may be seen as Central Nervous System (CNS) toxicity; Gastrointestinal reactions; Hematuria; Hepatotoxicity; Hypersensitivity reactions; Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (blistering, itching, peeling, or redness of the skin), diarrheas.
► It should be used with caution in animal or poultry with suspected or known CNS disorders.
► Ciprofloxacin should not be used in pregnant & lactating cow.
Meat: 12 days; Milk and Egg: 03 days.
Store at a temperature below 25 ⁰C, protect from light & keep in a dry place. Keep out of the reach of children.
